TIPS ON HOW TO GET A JOB FOR GRADUATES WITH NO WORK EXPERIENCE
Many graduates all over the world faces this situation of not getting a job as a result of no work experience. If you are in that category, no need to be anxious because there is a way around it. As a first step all your efforts should be around proving your potential across your CV. Ways to do this are;
1- Volunteer & Internships
If you’re not able to get paid work, your time is better spent gaining new skills. Choose an honest company that won’t abuse your generosity. If possible limit it to a few days a week to leave space for your job hunting efforts.
2- Large Companies
Apply for formal internships as a way in. If they don’t have any, it doesn’t hurt to send the HR team a letter outlining your free availability and areas of interest.
3- Volunteer for church or community projects: You can meet a variety of influential people to add to your network. You're likely to be given more responsibility and ownership here than in a corporate setting.
4- Work with small and micro-businesses
What they can’t give you in pay they can give you experience. While you’re waiting for the Shells of the world to find you, cut your teeth on the hustle of a small business and learn invaluable business development skills
5- Start your own community / project–
Through FB and social media channels, bring together a community of like minded people for a common cause or project – not only does this show leadership but through your efforts you’ll get to reach out to knowledgeable and connected people.
6- Lastly – Start your own business.
Many great businesses have been started off the back of long-term unemployment. If you can’t find someone to hire you, create your own income.
